Otoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to correct alterations in the shape, size, or position of the ears, whether congenital or acquired. The most common of these alterations is known as "prominent ears", in which the auricles protrude more than usual, generating a disproportionate appearance with the rest of the face.
In addition to aesthetics, Otoplasty fulfills an important emotional function, especially in children, as it helps prevent self-esteem problems or school teasing. For this reason, it is recommended to perform it between 8 and 10 years of age, once auricular development is practically complete.

Closure is performed with absorbable sutures, so removal is not necessary.
